We started with one truck and a ladder rack.

Esquivel Construction is a family business in Monroe, North Carolina. It began the way most small contractors begin: one truck, one trade, and a phone number handed from one neighbor to the next.

The work grew the way word of mouth grows. A customer who trusted us with their gutters asked who to call about the attic. Someone whose fence we replaced asked about the patio. Every time, the honest answer was a name we couldn't vouch for — and every time, that felt like the wrong answer to give someone who had already trusted us with their house. So we learned the next trade. Then the next one. Today we do five things: gutters, insulation, fences, patios, and roll-off dumpster rental. Residential and commercial, across North Carolina and into nearby areas of South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

We do the work ourselves.

This is the part that actually matters, and it's the part most contractors won't put in writing. Most companies our size quote a job and then subcontract the parts they don't do. You meet one person, sign with one company, and a crew you've never seen shows up on Tuesday. When something needs fixing a year later, nobody wants to own it.

We self-perform. Our crew, our trucks, our equipment. The person who measures your job is the person who quotes it, and the people who quote it are the people who build it. When you call about a gate that needs adjusting or a downspout that came loose in a storm, you're calling the same company that installed it.

The dumpsters are the clearest example. Almost every contractor rents them and marks them up, which means your demolition schedule belongs to somebody else's route. We bought our own containers and we drive them ourselves. The dumpster shows up the morning the work starts, and it leaves when it's full.

How we work

Everything in writing before anything starts. A written price, a written warranty, and a scheduled date we keep. No verbal promises and no pressure at the estimate — if the number doesn't work for you, that's a fine outcome.

We're still small on purpose. Growing past the point where the family shows up on the job would cost us the only thing that makes us worth hiring.
